Default Important compatibility note re EdGCM 3.2.1 and Mac OS X 10.6 / Windows 7

Limited testing of EdGCM under Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) has shown that Snow Leopard breaks the version of the 4D database application (2004.7) upon which the EdGCM database is built. The main symptom involves the deletion of the EdGCM/Applications/eJournals folder upon quitting EdGCM for the first time. Later attempts to quit after restart end with an error message as long as the eJournals folder is missing, requiring a force-quit from the EdGCM interface. Manually recreated eJournals folders are also deleted upon exit from EdGCM.

Since 4D will not issue any more patches or updates to address operating system upgrades for this database version, a fix for this problem will require a major upgrade and possible changes to EdGCM's internal database structure. It may take some time to implement and test any such fixes, so users should not be anticipate being able to use EdGCM with Snow Leopard in the near future. The recommended Mac OS X version will remain 10.5.x (Intel or PPC).

Since we have not yet been able to test EdGCM under Windows 7, we advise Windows users to plan on using EdGCM with XP or Vista for the time being. As we begin testing under Windows 7, we will post further updates regarding potential compatibility issues, if any.
