Altering Ocean Input Files (SSTs and Sea Ice)

I recently received the following question via email:

I would like to use EDGCM to verify the global response to changes in the South Pacific sea surface temperatures during the last century. Is it possible to include monthly specified sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in EDGCM? How to do it?

While it is possible to do this, it requires new ocean input arrays be created for use in the GCM. This requires that the user have some programming capability. So, if you are comfortable with programming we will supply the format of the included ocean input files and you can modify them to fit your simulation needs. The modern ocean input files FOR SPECIFIED SST EXPERIMENTS can be found in:

EdGCM 3.0/Input/Modern/O8X10.ocen
